Set in the heart of the beautiful North
West Province bosveld lies the historical village of Groot
Marico, famous for the stories by Herman Charles Bosman and for
Mampoer (a locally produced distilled liquor). Doornkraal Guest
House and Farm lies on the shores of the Marico Bosveld Dam in an
exquisite setting of beautiful gardens with views of the nearby
mountains.

The Farm
Doornkraal is a miscellaneous farm
where Tobacco, Chili, seed Sunflower, Mealies, Soyabeans and
Wheat are being cultivated. Doornkraal is a declared nature
reserve with a rich birdlife (the Marico district is well known
for it's more than 430 bird species). The Marico Dam provides
excellent opportunities for fishing while the nearby mountains
provide a challenge for the hiker.
Guest House "Out of Africa"
Accommodation is provided in an
elegant "Out of Africa" double story house with en-suite
rooms, a self catering cottage and a family house in a lovely
garden.

room (two separate bedrooms) one bathroom and a lounge on the
ground floor while on the first floor there is a suite of two
separate bedrooms, a reading room, bathroom and Satellite
Television.

maximum of six people and includes a comfortable lounge with
television
and are fully equipped
7 Self Catering Cottages
This cottage consists of one bedroom,
a bathroom, kitchen and television room.

On Site Facilities
The
on-site facilities include a beautiful swimming pool next to a thatched braai
area. Here one can relax and unwind in the seclusion of the scenic garden. For
those feeling a little more energetic there are hiking trails to suit the needs
of all. The farm is also well suited for fishing and birding. Game viewing is
also available on adjoining farms.
Trans Kalahari Highway
The farm is ideal as a 'staging post'
for those travellers on their way to Botswana, Namibia, Zimbawe
via Sun City, the Cape via Kimberley and to Namakwaland.
